Over ‘ontlezen’ is de afgelopen jaren een reeks artikelen, rapporten en aanbevelingen verschenen. De bezorgdheid daarover is begrijpelijk. Het kijken naar verhalen (‘netflixen’) heeft het lezen verdrongen; voor jongeren biedt lezen niet alleen meer toegang tot verhalen. Ook het luisterboek is in opkomst.

Onder andere deze ontwikkelingen vragen om een nieuwe, multimediale benadering van verhalen, met name in het onderwijs.
