Hundreds of books on motorcycle racing have been published. Usually provided with beautiful photos. They are often sublime action photos, taken by professional photographers. Images from the paddocks are often in the minority. The booklet “With the camera in the paddock” fills this gap by presenting pictures of a pur sang enthusiast about the period 1961 until 1975. The photographer in question, Klaas Tjassens, has knowledge and a love for motorcycles, plus a nose for beautiful technology and unique moments. He has made a selection from his photo collection for this booklet. These photos represent the atmosphere before and after the races themselves in their own way. The technology, the glamor, the poverty, the enthusiasm, the joy and tragedy.
