This course teaches students how to pronounce British English clearly and naturally. It begins by introducing consonants and vowels and moves on to intonation and stress patterns and words that are notoriously difficult to pronounce. Rather than presenting extensive theory, this course provides learners with short tips and exercises to gradually improve their British English accent. All theoretical information is supported by sample syllables, words, phrases, sentences or a text. By the end of the course, successful students will sound more like native speakers of British English. The course features recordings of all the language samples in the book. These recordings represent 'real' language; the speaker reads out newspaper articles, film or sitcom scripts, literary and poetic extracts, pop song lyrics, well- known sayings, and famous quotes and speeches. An online pronunciation practice tool called 'Lorre' is also part of the course. Accent Building is specifically aimed at college and university students who are native speakers of Dutch.
