De gereformeerde theologie van de zeventiende en achttiende eeuw gaf samen met rechtsgeleerdheid, verlichtingsfilosofie, politiek en maatschappelijk denken vorm aan de koloniale ideologie van de Republiek der Verenigde Nederlanden.
